As a biker myself, I try to be courteous to everyone along the way. I have a lot of cyclist friends that I could never imagine to be as Arrogant as you describe. Perhaps there is a difference between mountain cyclists and inner city cyclists. As for 'moral superiority'; I agree it is ridiculous for a cyclist to consider themselves superior because of a carbon footprint. Although you do happen to live in a place where the standards of moral superiority are as flexible as the Golden Gate Bridge, so I can see how this is possible. I would say it's the motherland for Arrogant Jerks, but I'm afraid New York has the edge because of Wall Street. Its probably one of the reasons why I love it there so much. This gives them the right to flagrantly ignore the rules of the road, cutting in and out of traffic and bowl over pedestrians. I live in San Francisco, where Critical Mass takes over the streets on the last Friday of the month.
